Governor Rick Scott has appointed Sanibel Mayor Kevin Ruane to the South Florida Ecosystem Restoration Task Force.
The group is made up local, state, federal and tribal representatives.
Before becoming mayor in 2010, Ruane worked in several executive positions for a subsidiary of Xerox.
He told WGCU's Topher Forhecz he’ll focus on the relationship between the environment and the economy when he joins the task force for its Nov. 19 meeting.
