Lynn U. Plugs in to Debate's High-tech Demands

As preparations continue for Lynn University's star turn hosting the last Presidential debate, the mood on its Boca Raton campus is electrified. And its tech department is discovering just how much juice is needed to fuel the spotlight.

Lynn University had to lay 70 miles of new cable to meet the needs of the 3000 journalists, broadcasters, photographers, and videographers covering the event.

After the debate is over, most of that cable goes. But Lynn's Chief Information Officer Chris Boniforti says much of the new electronic improvements will remain, including the high-speed wi-fi.

“Without the debate it would have been a couple of years before we could have purchased something like that”, said Boniforti. “So this gave us a wonderful, wonderful kind of leapfrog for us, from a technology standpoint. So, I think it opens up for a lot of wonderful opportunities for us.”

In preparation for the debate, Lynn also gave its campus a facelift in the form of new front and rear entrances. The Lynn University face-off between President Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney is scheduled for October 22nd - fifteen days before Election Day.
