Congressional Republicans continue to criticize the federal health insurance exchange for technical glitches, but they’re also changing their strategy to dismantle the law by charging the president lied about his promise. Presidnet Obama and Democrats repeatedly told Americans that they’d be able to keep their current health insurance plans under the Affordable Care Act. Senator Marco Rubio is introducing legislation that would simply allow Americans to keep their current insurance plans. He accuses the president of lying to voters.
“This is not an unintended consequence. This is an intended consequence. They designed it to be this way, because they want to gut the individual marketplace", accused Rubio. "They do not want Americans to be able to go out and pick and chose the exact type of insurance they want. What they’re really saying is, ‘you can have any insurance plan you want, as long as we – the federal government – believe it’s good enough for you."
Democrats accuse Republicans like Rubio of making much ado about nothing. They say insurance companies are changing plans because they’re now required to offer more benefits under the ACA.
