Zimmerman's Attorney Pleased with Trial Progress

George Zimmerman’s attorney Mark O’Mara says he’s pleased with the progression of the trial so far. Zimmerman is charged with second degree murder after he shot teenager Trayvon Martin in Sanford last year.

Most of Thursday’s testimony was spent with a key witnesses for the state, Rachel Jeantel, who was talking on the phone with Martin before he died.

Jeantel was cross examined by the defense about inconsistencies in her testimony.

In a press conference late Thursday, O’Mara was asked about the long – and sometimes testy- cross examination.

“The only battle in this courtroom is justice and truth, so I think we got out some truth today, and I think it’s going to lead towards justice", O’Mar said. "So in that sense I think things went very well.”

Zimmerman says he shot Martin in self defense.

Jurors have heard a week of evidence so far. O’Mara said the trial could last a further two weeks.
