Managing editorMike Braun is a formerly with the Fort Myers News-Press and Naples Daily News where he worked for 17 years as a page designer/copy editor and breaking news reporter.
He also worked for 25 years at The Vindicator in Youngstown, Ohio, serving as a general assignment reporter, rewrite editor, copy editor, Sunday edition editor, outdoors columnist, designer and chief of the design desk.
He graduated in 1977 with a degree in media communications from Youngstown State University where he was editor-in-chief of the school newspaper The Jambar.
He lives in Fort Myers and is originally from Peoria, Illinois.

Ozzie and Harriet were the North Fort Myers site's original bald eagle pair, making the nest their home every year from fall to spring since 2006. Ozzie was fatally injured and died in fall 2015. Harriet & M15 bonded later in the fall of 2015. Cameras have watched the North Fort Myers eagle nest for 12 years.

A two-week delay in the selection of Florida Gulf Coast University's fifth president in 25 years has put that process back to the beginning.The university's board of trustees met Thursday for what many thought might be the selection of a new FGCU president after a two week delay. Instead, the board members discussed the withdrawal of two of the three candidates during that delay and then decided to begin the process all over again.

Rabbi A. James Rudin, co-founder of Saint Leo University’s Center for Catholic-Jewish Studies, to receive Papal Knighthood. The Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Boston Mark O’Connell will conduct the investiture ceremony on behalf of Pope Francis on November 20 at the university's campus, north of Tampa.

A two-week delay was announced shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday in the selection if a new president for FGCU. The selection, which had been planned for Wednesday, was delayed at the request of the state Board of Governors.

More than 150 volunteers from Team Depot, The Home Depot’s associate volunteer force, and another 30 to 50 volunteers from Team Rubicon, a veterans volunteer organization, arrived early Thursday to help residents in a Port Charlotte neighborhood clean out their homes, removing flooring and drywall, and working with chainsaw teams to remove debris from the area.
