The Lee County Homeless Coalition is preparing for its 20th annual Homeless Service Day and Veterans Stand Down event.

The Executive Director of the Coalition, Janet Bartos, said the event is all about connecting people to the services they need.

"This is a one-day event where we bring a variety of services to one location, making them more accessible to those who are experiencing homelessness," Bartos said.

About 30 organizations will provide food, hygiene kits, flu shots, haircuts, and referrals for substance abuse and mental health counseling. Housing and employment assistance will also be offered.

"Our goal is to connect people with services that can help them out of homelessness and help them become self-sufficient," Bartos said.

The Homeless Service day will be Saturday, Jan. 25 from 8:30 in the morning until noon at CityGate Ministries in Fort Myers.

Bartos said organizers are prepared to serve about 400 people.
