Regan McCarthy is the Assignment Editor and Senior News Producer for WFSU News/ Florida Public Radio. Before coming to Tallahassee, Regan graduated with honors from Indiana University’s Ernie Pyle School of Journalism. She worked for several years for NPR member station WFIU in Bloomington, Ind., where she covered local and state government and produced feature and community stories. She has also worked for the London Business Matters Magazine and the Rochester Sentinel, a daily local newspaper.   • State health officials reported 3,924 new COVID-19 cases, Monday, for a total of 847,821 cases. The Florida Department of Health also reported 58 new coronavirus-related deaths, Nov. 9, increasing the statewide death toll to 17,391 fatalities since the beginning of the pandemic.
  • State health officials reported 1,844 new COVID-19 cases, Sunday, bringing Florida's total to 716,459 cases. The Florida Department of Health also reported 43 new coronavirus-related deaths, Oct. 4, increasing the statewide death toll to 14,845 fatalities.Of the 5,404,082 COVID-19 tests that have been reported in Florida so far, the overall positivity rate has fallen to 13.26%. The latest single-day positivity rate has dipped to 3.72%.
  • State health officials reported 2,628 new COVID-19 cases, Thursday, bringing Florida's total to 709,144 cases. The Florida Department of Health also reported 131 new coronavirus-related deaths, Oct. 1, increasing the statewide death toll to 14,619 fatalities.Of the 5,333,017 COVID-19 tests that have been reported in Florida so far, the overall positivity rate stands at 13.3% and the latest single-day positivity rate dropped to 4.62%.
  • State health officials reported 67 new COVID-19 cases, Wednesday, bringing Florida's total to 706,516 cases. The Florida Department of Health also reported six new coronavirus-related deaths, Sept. 30, increasing the statewide total to 14,488 fatalities.
  • Governor Ron DeSantis has removed state-wide operating restrictions for bars and restaurants. Under an order signed Friday, the businesses will be able to return to full capacity indoors. It's a change from the 50% capacity limit that had been in place as part of an effort to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
  • State health officials reported 1,882 new COVID-19 cases, Sunday, bringing Florida's total to 700,564 cases. The Florida Department of Health also reported 10 new coronavirus-related deaths, Sept. 27, increasing the statewide death toll to 14,202 fatalities.On Saturday, Florida health officials reported 2,795 new COVID-19 cases and 107 deaths.
  • State health officials reported 1,685 new COVID-19 cases, Monday, bringing Florida's total to 685,439 cases. The Florida Department of Health also reported 21 new coronavirus-related deaths, Sept. 21, increasing the statewide death toll to 13,480 fatalities.Monday’s state data comes as the death toll from the virus nationally has now topped 200,000 fatalities.
  • Florida State University’s head football coach, Mike Norvell, has tested positive for the coronavirus.
  • State health officials reported 2,423 new cases of COVID-19, Sunday, increasing Florida's total to 663,994 cases.The Florida Department of Health also reported eight new coronavirus-related deaths of Florida residents, Sept. 13, bringing the statewide death toll to 12,764 fatalities.On Saturday, state health officials reported 3,190 new COVID-19 cases and 98 deaths.
  • The Florida Department of Health reported 2,583 new COVID-19 cases in Florida, Sunday, increasing the statewide total to 621,586 cases.State health officials also reported 14 new coronavirus-related deaths of Florida residents, Aug. 30, bringing the statewide death toll to 11,263 fatalities since the beginning of the pandemic. Sunday's increase in deaths marks the lowest single-day increase in COVID-related fatalities since June 22.
