Oscar-Winner Jack Palance Dies
Actor Jack Palance, known for his haltingly intense speaking style and dozens of roles in Western and noir films, has died. After years of playing the heavy in Hollywood, Palance became a hit in comedy films late in life. At 70, he won an Oscar for his over-the-top role in the Billy Crystal film City Slickers.

A sudden dust storm in Illinois led to car crashes that killed 6 and injured dozens
Police said more than 70 vehicles were involved in the crashes that left parts of Interstate 55 closed and more than 35 people injured. Injuries ranged from minor to life-threatening.
Bret could be joined by a second tropical storm by late today
Tropical Storm Bret strengthened overnight with sustained winds of 70 MPH. Tropical Depression Four formed in the Central Atlantic overnight and is expected to strengthen into Tropical Storm Cindy later today.
Daily severe weather events threaten Florida through the weekend
The risk returns for significant severe weather across parts of the state today. Storms with a severe threat will keep tracking through the Panhandle this morning, then spread into the Peninsula during the afternoon and evening. All modes of severe weather are possible to include winds over 70 MPH, golf ball-sized hail or larger, and isolated tornadoes.
