Comedian and actor Charlie Murphy made a name for himself as a writer on Chappelle's Show, with his witty sketches of his encounters with famous people like Prince and Rick James. Murphy died Wednesday after a long battle with leukemia. He was 57.

High Schoolers Show Up For Prom On Wrong Night
About 400 students from Bloomington High in Southern California showed up for prom a week early — because the invitations had the date wrong. The venue managed a makeshift party for them anyway, complete with a DJ and chicken strips.

Security Tapes Show Supermarket Glutton Stuffing Himself
Police in Kentucky say Trevor Runyon slipped into a supermarket and waited for it to close.Surveillance cameras show he then had a feast. He cooked and ate six steak, and washed them down with beer, shrimp and birthday cake. Police found him hiding in the ceiling.

Sharon: Tel Aviv Blast Shows Need for Barrier
An explosion at a bus stop in Tel Aviv kills an Israeli soldier and wounds more than 14 people. Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said the attack showed the need for Israel's controversial security barrier in the West Bank, which the World Court has declared illegal. NPR's Julie McCarthy reports.
