Hamas Cabinet in Place; Challenges Await
The Israeli election was held the same day the Palestinian parliament overwhelmingly approved the new Hamas Cabinet, setting the stage for the new administration to take office later this week. Hamas has shown no interest in accepting Israel's right to exist. But its leader says he also has no interest in perpetuating the cycle of violence of the past five years. Lawsuit Challenges Abstinence Education Program
A program that teaches abstinence is at the center of a new lawsuit against the federal government. The ACLU is filing suit against "The Silver Ring Thing," which it alleges promotes religion. The federal government granted more than $1 million to the program, under President Bush's faith-based initiative.

Sharif's Return to Pakistan Poses Challenges
Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan Monday after years in exile. But he will receive less than a warm welcome from the country's current military ruler, President Gen. Pervez Musharraf, who has ordered the arrest of hundreds of his supporters.

Lawmakers Band Together to Challenge EPA
There's an unusual bi-partisan effort to get the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to release information about certain Superfund cleanup sites, pieces of land that have been deemed too toxic for development. The EPA says sharing some information about the sites could discourage companies from cleaning up their environmental messes.
