DEVO co-founder Bob Lewis to deliver a lecture/reading at the Bob Rauschenberg Gallery at FSW
Co-founder and original band member of the new wave band DEVO, Bob Lewis, is in Fort Myers to deliver a lecture, reading and Q&A event, Nov. 9, in conjunction with an exhibition now at the Bob Rauschenberg Gallery at Florida Southwestern State College marking the 50th anniversary of the iconic band. Lewis joins us in studio ahead of the event along with Rauschenberg Gallery Director Jade Dellinger. Dellinger is co-author of “The Beginning Was the End: Devo in Ohio,” which serves as a definitive account of DEVO’s early history.

Players Circle Theater starts a new season with the comedy “Breaking Legs” in the company’s new theater space
Players Circle Theater kicks off the performance season with playwright Tom Dulack’s mafioso-style comedy “Breaking Legs.” The show will mark the company’s first production in its newly renovated theater space in the heart Fort Myers’ McGregor corridor. We preview the show and learn about the new theater space in a conversation with Players Circle Theater co-founders Bob Cacioppo and Carrie Lund.

FGCU’s Wasmer Art Gallery hosts “A Tenuous Framework” installation exploring themes of ancestral memory and perceptions of history
The Wasmer Art Gallery at Florida Gulf Coast University hosts an installation titled “A Tenuous Framework,” Jan. 18 – Feb. 29. The installation comes from artistic collaborators and married couple Brent Budsberg and Shana McCaw. The exhibition continues the artists exploration of perceptions of history, ancestral memory, and psychological displacement. We take a deeper dive into the installation in a conversation with the artists and Wasmer Art Gallery Director John Loscuito.

January 18th marks the opening reception of an exhibition at the Bob Rauschenberg Gallery titled “David BRADSHAW & William S. Burroughs: Propagation.” The exhibition will feature never-before-seen works reflecting the artistic collaboration between the late, legendary Burroughs and internationally acclaimed painter, sculptor, and sharpshooter Bradshaw. Gulf Coast Symphony’s 30th Anniversary Concert features premiere of symphonic work by local young composer Frazar Henry
The Gulf Coast Symphony’s upcoming 30th anniversary concert celebration will include the premiere performance of a symphonic piece titled, “Seas of Glass,” from local composer Frazar Henry. The 19-year-old composer and multi-instrumentalist was commissioned by the symphony’s maestro to write the piece. Frazar has been composing music since he was just five years old. Ahead of the March 30th concert, Henry joins the show to talk about the composition and his extraordinary musical journey so far.

Southwest Florida-based playwright Joe Simonelli is the Artistic Director of the region’s newest theater venue “Cape Café Theatre,” which is now working on it’s third production of Simonelli’s work.
