Event Breaks Barriers & Improves Communication Among Teens Around Mental Health Issues
According to the Centers for Disease Control, before the coronavirus pandemic began the prevalence of depression, anxiety, and behavioral problems among teens was already growing in the United States. This is now the third school year that’s been impacted by the pandemic, and this has only magnified the pressures brought by school and life. We learn about a local effort, called Normal is Overrated, that seeks to remove the stigma of talking about mental and behavioral health issues, particularly among teens.

National Moratorium on Evictions Set to Expire on December 31
As millions of Americans lost their jobs and incomes due to the coronavirus pandemic, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention issued an unprecedented moratorium on evictions. That moratorium is set to expire on December 31 if lawmakers in Congress do not extend it. The National Low Income Housing Coalition estimates as many as 19 million people in 6.7 million households are at risk of being evicted if they don’t.

Hemingway's Key West Life & Legacy
Throughout Ernest Hemingway’s life he had a number of famous residences, including in Cuba, and in Key West where he lived for about a decade from the late 1920s to the late 1930s. We get a sense of his time in The Keys with author, poet, and publisher Arlo Haskell. He’s executive director of the Key West Literary Seminar and grew up in The Keys surrounded by Hemingway’s influence and legacy.

James L. Webb Space Telescope set to launch on Friday, Dec. 24
The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has been all over the news lately. The massive, roughly 10-billion dollar space telescope has been jointly developed for decades by NASA, the European Space Agency (ESA), and the Canadian Space Agency (CSA). Plans for it began forming as far back as the 1980s.The JWST will allow for observation of some of the most distant events and objects in the universe, including the formation of the first galaxies, and detailed atmospheric information on potentially habitable exoplanets — those are planets orbiting stars other than our sun.
