RSW terminal expansion prompts changes to Concourse C access

The remains of a 2-year-old, female Florida panther were found August 28 on Keri Road, 2.5 miles west of Twin Mills Grade in Hendry County.The suspected cause for the 13th panther death in 2025 was vehicle collision.

Joe Cavanaugh appointed as new Calusa Waterkeeper
Calusa Waterkeeper, Inc. has appointed Joe Cavanaugh as the new Calusa Waterkeeper, working to protect and restore the Caloosahatchee River from Lake Okeechobee to the coastal waters of Lee County.Cavanaugh brings decades of experience in marine science, water quality monitoring, and community engagement to the role. He has worked extensively at the local and federal levels to promote clean water policies and protect critical habitats—most notably through his former role at NOAA, where he helped monitor and protect smalltooth sawfish critical habitat in the Caloosahatchee.

Cargill Kitchen Solutions recalls liquid egg products due to an unapproved substance
More than 212,000 pounds of liquid egg products that may contain a cleaning solution with sodium hypochlorite is being recalled nationwide, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Friday.The liquid egg items, from Cargill Kitchen Solutions, a Lake Odessa, Michigan establishment, were produced on March 12 and 13, 2025.After conducting an investigation and thorough assessment of the contents of the cleaning solution, FSIS scientists concluded that use of this product should not cause adverse health consequences, or the risk is negligible, resulting in a Class III recall.
Lee Commissioners approve Caloosahatchee water projects
The Lee County Board of Commissioners voted to approve grants Tuesday for Caloosahatchee-based water projects, gave the nod to a contract to design drainage improvements in Fort Myers Shores, Russell Park and Iona and approved an agreement to add turn lanes and a traffic signal at Lee Boulevard and Leonard Boulevard in Lehigh Acres.The two water-quality projects approved will allow the county to construct projects to improve water quality flowing to the Caloosahatchee.
Florida Highway Patrol looking to three-peat in 'Best Cruiser' contest
Repeating in a championship is usually a difficult proposition. Three-peating nearly impossible. But the Florida Highway Patrol is trying to do just that in the 2025 American Association of State Troopers ‘Best Looking Cruiser’ competition.With only a few days left to vote, the FHP remains a few car-lengths behind the Michigan State Police cruisers in public voting.
