Blair Denies Split with U.S. over Troops in Iraq
British Prime Minister Tony Blair denies being at odds with the Bush administration, a day after saying the interim government set to rule Iraq after June 30 should have "final political control" over multinational troops there. Blair's comments seemed to contradict Secretary of State Colin Powell, who said Tuesday that U.S. military commanders would have ultimate say over U.S. forces. Hear NPR's Vicky O'Hara.

Powell: Iraq Won't Have Veto Power over U.S. Troops
Secretary of State Colin Powell says Iraq's new interim government will not have veto power over operations by U.S. forces following the June 30 transfer of sovereignty, but U.S. and Iraqi leaders will collaborate on "necessary arrangements" for troops. Powell's comments come as the U.N. Security Council hears from Iraq's new foreign minister on the issue of sovereignty for his country. Hear NPR's Deborah Amos.
