Free class planned Aug. 2 on property assessments, collections and disputes process
The public is invited to join Lee County’s Clerk and Comptroller Kevin Karnes, Property Appraiser Matt Caldwell and Tax Collector Noelle Branning for a comprehensive presentation on the property assessment, collection and dispute process.The class will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 2 from 2-3 p.m. at the Estero Recreation Center, located at 9200 Corkscrew Palms Boulevard in Estero.

Jonathan Reichert, professor emeritus at the State University of New York at Buffalo, has donated a rare collection of Robert Frost's letters, photographs and audio files to the school. The materials chronicle the decades-long friendship between the poet and Reichert's father, rabbi and poet Victor Reichert.

Captiva Coastal Cleanup collects more than 8,900 pounds of debris
A record-breaking 150 Southwest Florida locals came together to participate in the fourth annual Captiva Coastal Cleanup on Sept. 30, collecting an estimated 8,934 pounds of debris from the Captiva Island waterways.

Stamp Out Hunger drive helps collect food via mail carriers
Helping get food to many in Southwest Florida who may not have enough is the goal of the 31st Stamp Out Food Drive being held on Saturday and the National Association of Letter Carriers event provides a convenient way to donate.On Saturday, residents are encouraged to leave donations of non-perishable food items next to their mailboxes to be collected by mail carriers along their regular postal delivery routes. Food collected in Lee County will be distributed by the Harry Chapin Food Bank and other participating agencies.
