In response to the widespread devastation caused by Hurricane Ian, the Lee County Recovery Task Force held another town hall in Lehigh Acres to get community feedback on community recovery and future resiliency needs.

The School District of Lee County is hosting a virtual recruitment fair Monday to fill several positions for the 2023-24 school year, including staff for two new schools.From 2:00 to 3:30 p.m., the district will be seeking to fill 400 teacher positions, 80 of which will operate new locations in Lehigh Acres.

The Florida Gulf Coast University Board of Trustees voted, Tuesday, to approve a proposed employment contract for President-elect Aysegul Timur. Before officially taking over as FGCU’s new president, her confirmation will have to be approved by the Florida Board of Governors.

Dr. Aysegul Timur has been selected as FGCU’s next president. After a week of final interviews, public comments, and long discussions, FGCU Board of Trustees came of a 7-6 vote in favor of Timur. The room erupted in cheering, tears flowed from the audience as well as Timur.
