UAW strike at Daimler Truck averted at 11th hour
More than 7,000 Daimler Truck workers, most of them in North Carolina, had threatened to go on strike. The UAW says the workers will get raises of at least 25% plus cost of living allowances.
Britain Charges 11, Releases 1 in Aug. 10 Case
In London, 11 people have been charged in the alleged plot to blow up trans-Atlantic jetliners. With the release of one woman, an additional 11 suspects remain in custody. A police spokesman says that in conducting 69 searches, officers seized 400 computers.
