Sewer line smoke testing set for Sanibel neighborhoods island-wide from March 3 through 7
From March 3 through 7, inspection crews from the City of Sanibel Public Works Utility Division and a city contractor will be conducting a smoke test of sewer lines in neighborhoods throughout the island. This will include a physical survey of the City of Sanibel wastewater collection system, which will involve the opening of manholes in the streets and easements.

Charlotte detective intercepts scammers while picking up lunch
Two scammers from out-of-county were intercepted by a Charlotte County Sheriff's Office detective in a Punta Gorda Publix parking lot after they tried to sell items from their trunk while parked in a handicapped parking space.A report from the Sheriff's Office indicated that on Monday, a detective in an unmarked vehicle observed suspicious activity in the Publix parking lot at 2310 Tamiami Trail in Punta Gorda while he was picking up his lunch.

Florida to hold record 126-day Gulf red snapper season for 2025
Florida will have a record-breaking 126-day Gulf Red Snapper recreational season for 2025, the longest season since Florida assumed management of Gulf red snapper. The expanded season as announced Monday by Governor Ron DeSantis includes additional summer and fall fishing days from 2024, offering anglers more opportunities to fish over major holidays such as Memorial Day, Independence Day, Veterans Day, and Thanksgiving.
