Faculty & student researchers from FGCU's Water School spend a week offshore collecting water quality data in the weeks after Hurricane Ian
Several weeks after Hurricane Ian made landfall a team of faculty and student researchers from Florida Gulf Coast University’s Water School joined a weeklong, offshore research trip to collect water samples and survey sea beds to better understand the storm’s ecological impact. Water Quality Report: Red tide and blue-green algae at the same time; what happens if they touch?
A type of harmful blue-green algae is so great in Lake Avalon that it remains closed to water sports enthusiasts for the third month. Meanwhile, red tides 15 miles wide are blooming in the Gulf of Mexico.
