Cape Coral author and poet Lee Bennett Hopkins was inducted in Frebruary into the Florida Artists Hall of Fame, joining the likes of Robert Rauschenberg, Ernest Hemingway, and Burt Reynolds. He's be the first such honored artist from Lee County.
A prolific author of books and poetry for children, Hopkins has dozens of books to his credit, and he’s published more anthologies of children’s poetry than anyone in the world. He even holds the Guinness World Record to prove it.
Friday at 1:30 p.m. on Gulf Coast Live, we revisit out January discussion with Hopkins about what makes good children’s poetry, why it’s so important for children to have poetry in their lives, and what this honor means to him. He also reads some of his poetry from throughout his career.
