As Florida lawmakers convene the second week of the 2018 law-making session, our weekly series of legislative roundtable conversations features a talk with State Rep. Dane Eagle, R-Cape Coral.  Late last week, the House passed a measure (HB  9) aimed at forcing local governments as well as colleges and universities to comply with federal immigration officials, which would effectively ban so-called “Sanctuary Cities.”  We’ll get Rep. Eagle’s perspective on that effort, and a broad range of other issues including the budget, proposed firearm legislation, environmental restoration and tackling Florida’s opioid crisis.

Plus, the Florida House signed off on a measure (HB 41) Friday to codify funding for pregnancy crisis centers.  A provision in the measure requiring such service providers to promote childbirth has sparked controversy.  We’ll learn more about that and hear from a Fort Myers native opposed to the bill, who’s taken her testimony to Tallahassee.
