Naples Man Reconnected with Childhood Friend on PBS TV Show

PBS TV | We'll Meet Again
Ben Alalouf (right) first meetinng the brother of his childhood friend Seka

For more than 70 years Naples resident Ben Alalouf has carried with him memories of being a child refugee, after he and his Jewish family spent three years in hiding, first in Albania, then in Italy, and eventually finding themselves in upstate New York. It was there Mr. Alalouf met a young girl named Seka, who was about 4 years older than him, while they were both living in a refugee camp in Oswego, New York. Besides his memories, Mr. Alalouf also carried with him a picture of Seka -- part of his keepsakes from that time -- and it was only recently that that picture became the clue that led to their reconnection, thanks to the PBS TV show We'll Meet Again with Ann Curry, the latest episode of which features him and his story, and their reconnection., which premieres on Tuesday, November 20th at 8:00 p.m. PBS stations, including WGCU TV.
