According to the latest numbers from the National Institute on Drug Abuse just over 25 percent of kids growing up in the U.S. live in households where substance abuse is present. And, because kids are greatly influenced by the people who raise them, these influences can severely impact kids, and increase their chances of growing up abusing alcohol and drugs themselves.
We’re talking about the growing problem of addiction in the United States, and ways caregivers can help kids who are impacted by it, with Jerry Moe, he's the National Director of the Hazelden Betty Ford Children's Program, and an Advisory Board Member of the National Association for Children of Alcoholics, as well as an author, lecturer, and trainer on issues for children and families hurt by addiction. He’ll be in Fort Myers on Thursday, September 12 for a presentation called ‘The impact of addiction on children and families.’
