Marlins Name New Manager, Again

The Miami Marlins have chosen their new manager. The job is going to one of the team's former players.

Mike Redmond spent 13 seasons as a major league catcher, his first 7 as a member of the Marlins. Two years ago, he retired and became a manager in the Toronto Blue Jays minor league system.

The 41-year-old Redmond replaces the fired Ozzie Guillen, who lasted just one disappointing season on the job.

The Marlins, who moved in to a new Little Havana stadium and spent $200 million trying to improve the team, finished in last place in 2012 with a record of 69 wins and 93 losses.

Redmond will the Marlins sixth manager in the past four seasons alone, and 13th overall in the team's 20 year history.
