Before too much longer a kitschy example of Old Florida — the Shell Factory & Nature Park in North Fort Myers — will be a thing of the past.However, there are still chances to capture a little bit of the site's nostalgia in the guise of Elvis, Sinatra, Zoltar the fortune teller, a giant shell and several other remaining artifacts.

After nearly 90 years the Shell Factory in North Fort Myers is closing.

The odd, unusual and usual Florida kitsch and sights was a given for those visiting the Shell Factory over the past nearly 90 years. That all ends in two weeks.On Monday the Shell Factory announced on its Facebook page that it would be permanently closing.

The world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales will clip-clop their way through Southwest Florida this week starting at the Shell Factory and Nature Park in North Fort Myers.
