Tropical Storm Edouard Forms and South Florida Feels the Impacts of Invest 92

WUFT

Overnight, Tropical Storm Edouard formed in the Eastern Atlantic but closer to home, significant weather is felt by Invest 92.

It is just after the peak of hurricane season and the fifth named storm of the 2014 tropical season has developed over the eastern Atlantic. As of Friday morning, Tropical Storm Edouard is more organized and continues to show signs of further development. Some models forecast Edouard to become a hurricane early next week. This system poses no immediate threat to the United States. Meanwhile, in areas of southern Florida, numerous showers and thunderstorms began developing late Thursday night from Invest 92. As the system drifts further inland, it is capable of producing torrential downpours, strong wind gusts, and localized flooding through the end of the weekend. Invest 92 is forecast to reach the Gulf of Mexico by Sunday, mainly impacting south Florida and the Florida Keys.
