Stark Contrast in Atlantic 10 Years After Hurricane Jeanne

Wikimedia Creative Commons

The heavy rain earlier this week in central Floriday might have brought back memories of the severe flooding that came from Hurricane Jeanne, which made landfall on Florida's Treasure Coast ten years ago today. Thankfully, it's a much different story on this September 26, as the Atlantic Basin is unusually quiet yet again. No new tropical storms are forecast to develop in the next five days.

However, plenty of tropical moisture hovering over the state will lead to some heavy rain at times this weekend, especially by Sunday in the panhandle where an area of low pressure will be approaching from the northern Gulf. Localized flooding will be possible in some areas, especially near Gulf Coast counties where 3-day rainfall totals could exceed two inches in spots.
