Comcast To Hire 200 Employees For Call Center in Fort Myers

Gov. Rick Scott stopped by a Comcast call center in Fort Myers Thursday. The Internet and cable provider is beefing up its customer service while adding more than 200 new jobs to the area.

Comcast officials said during the event that they plan to hire 200 new customer service agents, as well as 20 upper management positions by the end of the year. 

Amy Smith, a VP with Comcast Florida, said the company has been expanding its services and improving its products, but focus also needs to be set on customer service.

“We also recognize we need to do a better job from a customer service experience perspective and we’ve been working very, very hard to do that,” Smith said.

This expansion means the Fort Myers facility, which provides customer service to most of the area, will grow to more than 400 employees. 

Scott said this expansion follows a job-growth trend in Lee County.

“Think about what’s happening in Lee County,” he said. “You’ve got Hertz, you’ve got Gartner expanding, you’ve got Comcast expanding, you’ve got Arthrex growing. This is a great part of the state.”

Besides the 200 employees expected to be in place by the end of this year, Comcast said it anticipates further growth into 2015.
