State Rep. James Buchanan, the Republican incumbent, easily retained his District 74 seat on Election Day 2024 in a race against Democratic challenger Nancy M.H. Simpson.
Buchanan tallied nearly 65 percent of the vote to Simpson's just over 35 percent.
District 74 is in Sarasota County.
Buchanan is the son of U.S. Representative Vern Buchanan (R) of Florida's 16th Congressional District.
