Elections

The 2012 general election in Florida had some of the longest voting lines in recent memory.

Gov. Rick Scott said Wednesday that federal funds will be used after all to beef up security for the state's voting systems in time for November's elections.

Supervisors of elections throughout Florida are preparing for the upcoming election season, with the secruity of the voting process being a top priority.

Three candidates are in the running to fill the position vacated by State Rep. Alex Miller, a Sarasota Republican, who unexpectedly submitted her resignation from House District 72 last August. Gov. Rick Scott announced there will be a special election to replace Miller on Tuesday.

State officials this month levied a $110,000 fine against the Republican Party of Florida. The party turned in a campaign finance report dealing with a South Florida House race 11 days late.
