Stone Crabs

For our neighbors to the north, October is typically associated with leaves changing color in the brisk fall weather, but here in the subtropics it’s a time when we begin to indulge in a tasty Florida delicacy: Stone crabs. The recreational and commercial stone crab harvest season begins October 15 and runs through May 15. While anglers, restaurateurs and diners alike look forward to the season, News-Press Story teller Amy Bennett Williams says, she’ll take a pass.
