Florida State University President John Thrasher says he fully supports the dismissal of the college football player, charged with punching a woman at a bar.

On Monday, FSU Football Coach Jimbo Fisher announced freshman quarterback De'Andre Johnson’s dismissal from the team, following the release of a video showing him punching a woman at a Tallahassee bar last month. During an altercation, they were both vying for a position at the bar.

Following the initial claim in June, officials placed him on suspension. But, after prosecutors released the security cam video Monday, Fisher released Johnson from the team “effective immediately.”

And, Thrasher agrees with the move. In a statement released Tuesday, Thrasher says “having now seen the physical altercation captured on video, there is no question in my mind that Fisher made the correct decisions.”

He adds he has “no tolerance for the behavior exhibited in this case.”

Johnson has been charged with misdemeanor battery.
