StateImpact: What To Expect At This Week's Public Meetings About Common Education Standards

Next week, the Florida Department of Education will hold three public meetings to discuss Florida’s new K-12 math and English standards.

The Common Core stadards outline what students should know at the end of each grade. But the standards are increasingly controversial. Some worry they aren’t as good as what Florida had. Others say students will spend too much time on new Common Core tests.

StateImpact Florida’s John O’Connor spoke with WUSF’s Craig Kopp about why the hearings are happening, and how they might affect Common Core.
