Joe Biden Hosts Rally in Hillsborough County

Vice President Joe Biden spoke to a mostly senior crowd at the Sun City Center development in Hillsborough County. Health care was at the core of the rally.

The Sun City Center Community Hall was filled to the brink with an audience of more than a thousand residents, mainly senior citizens. Vice president Joe Biden was introduced by U.S. senator Bill Nelson to an enthusiastic crowd in southern Hillsborough county. He says it’s important for the party to focus on a more elderly demographic.

"We've seen Paul Ryan's budget - both the year before and earlier this year - it does away with the guaranteed benefit of Medicare and replaces it with a voucher", said Biden. "Now, that's a piece of paper that the senior citizen would get and they'd have to go and negotiate their health care with the insurance company. And I don't think seniors want that."

Joined by his daughter Ashley, vice president Joe Biden changed the focus from Medicare and Medicaid to women’s rights.

Biden said, "We are absolutely, positively committed that my daughter, and the President's daughters, and my four granddaughters have every single solitary opportunity to control their lives as my son and my grandson, without exception. Every single one."

Biden then left for another campaign stop in Fort Pierce.
