A cheering, thundering crowd of supporters greeted President Obama in Delray Beach this morning – during his first public address after last night’s Presidential debate at Lynn University.
Debbie Lucas is visiting from Massachusetts and gave up a vacation day to attend the rally. She says she was impressed by the President’s performance last night during his debate with Republican challenger Mitt Romney. “Obama was right on target”, said Lucas.
“Calling him on all the shots. And he just sat there and smiled and smirked – and Obama looked at him like a pitbull and I loved it!”
Among the thousands of people who stood in line for hours to snag a seat was Don Weldy of Sunrise. He’s a Vietnam vet – and he says the President is the right man to lead the nation for the next four years.
“And he’s gonna help the veterans. He has already”, Weldy said. “I mean he brought us back from where we weren’t supported to be. Romney don’t care about the veterans.”
In front of a packed house at the city’s Tennis Center, the President urged the crowd to take advantage of Florida’s early voting period.
“Two weeks from today Americans in all 50 states will step into the voting booth. But, here in Florida, you get to start voting on Saturday”, said Obama.
Early voting throughout Florida begins October 27th and ends on November 3rd.
