Joe Garcia Asks Obama To Help Venezuelans Living In The US

South Florida politicians are stepping up and asking the president to do something about the current protests in Venezuela. Congressman Joe Garcia is asking President Obama to protect Venezuelans who would become targets by going back to their country. Today he held a press conference to push the issue. For him there’s only one solution.
"Many of them are asking for asylum. Let’s clear up their asylum claims. Let’s clear up their deportation. Let’s give them reinterviews", Garcia pleaded. "Because clearly if we didn’t know, now we know. And I think no one has the right to claim ignorance when people’s lives are at stake."

The situation in Venezuela has Florida politicians reaching across party lines. Democrat Garcia supports Republicans Mario Diaz-Balart and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen in their efforts to block U.S. visas and financial transactions for Venezuelan government officials tied to any repression. The protests are entering their second week, with a death toll of 12.
