Part of the gambling compact between the state of Florida and the Seminole Tribe comes due next year. The renewal is up for table games like blackjack before July 2015.
Gov. Scott opened negotiations with the Seminole Gaming CEO James Allen who was in Tampa Tuesday to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
Allen is not commenting on the compact negotiations or on lawmakers looking at possible expansion of gaming to include resort casinos.
"Certainly because we're in the session right now - you know - it's certainly a conversation that comes up", said Allen. "But there's no pressure from the Tribe or visaversa that we have to get this done tomorrow but we certainly are anxious and hopeful that it could happen this year.
The compact gives the Tribe exclusive rights to operate slot machines outside of Miami-Dade and Broward counties at four sites including Tampa's Seminole Hard Rock Casino.
