November is National Adoption Month, and this week the Children's Network of Southwest Florida is finishing its fourth and final mass-adoption event to boost awareness about the need for adoptive families.
The number of local children in foster care has jumped by more than 200 children, or roughly 10 percent, since July. This week on Gulf Coast Live, we talk with those working to help find adoptive homes for kids in Southwest Florida about what’s caused this increase. We also speak with local parents who have chosen adoption.
Guests:
- Melissa Bonner, Quality Management Supervisor, Children's Network of SWFL
- Amy Catherine, a Fort Myers woman in the process of adopting a child
- Kathy Cahill, an adoptive mother of two
