Consumer Rights During a Red Tide Bloom

The red tide bloom that’s been affecting southwest Florida since last fall has killed countless fish and other kinds of marine life. It’s also caused respiratory irritation for beachgoers and people who live near the water. Of course, this is cause for concern when people have plans to vacation in this part of Florida.

They may be unsure whether they have the right to cancel their reservations if conditions are unacceptable because of the effects of red tide. And, as a hotel owner what can you say or not say about red tide conditions, or even the weather, when a customers calls to ask?

 

We're joined by Bryan Oglesby, Director of Public Relations and Outreach for the Better Business Bureau Serving West Florida.
