Homeowners have been complaining for years about disturbances, and sometimes lewd behavior, from boaters anchored near their property.

The measure bans nighttime anchoring in portions of Biscayne Bay and Sunset Lake in Miami-Dade and Middle River in Broward.

Republican Representative Matt Caldwell of Fort Myers sponsored the measure.

Caldwell failed, however, to add a measure that would have created another protection zone in Okaloosa County.
