Since 2011, Bullard has failed to properly file campaign finance reports a dozen times. Wednesday the FEC saddled Bullard with a $5,000 fine, for incomplete reports filed in 2014 and 2015. Stephanie Cunningham is assistant general counsel for the agency.

“In this case the commission found probable cause that Dwight Bullard, a 2016 candidate for state Senator failed to make necessary amendments to five of his campaign treasurers’ reports,” she said in a hearing Wednesday.

The move comes just one day after the launch of the grassroots organization Accountable Miami Dade, which calls for tougher enforcement of campaign finance laws.
