Revenue Forecast Shows Improving State Economy

Florida's economy is continuing to recover from the recession. Economists from the Governor's office and the Legislature Friday revised upward their projections of state general revenue.

Top economist Amy Baker said refinancing and improved sales tax collections prompted the new projection for the current and upcoming fiscal years.

"For Fiscal Year 2012-13, expected revenues were increased by $236 million, or about 1% above the earlier forecast", said Baker.

The economists said general revenue collections for the current fiscal year ending June 30 were $236 million higher than the last estimate in August.

For the 2013-14 fiscal year, the forecast was up $156 million.
