Education Commissioner Says She's Listening, Will Take Ideas To Gov. Scott

Parents, educators, lawmakers and business leaders are meeting for three days to discuss education issues in Clearwater.

Gov. Rick Scott has asked them to review Florida’s education standards, new testing, school grading formula and teacher evaluations.

Interim education commissioner Pam Stewart says she’ll take any suggested changes back to Scott.

“I think we want to have a clear road map. I think that’s important", Stewart said. "And I think in order to make sure that we have a good road map that we know where we want to go for our students it’s important that we listen to everyone. And so we’ve certainly pulled the right stakeholders in the room and are doing what we can to make sure we’re listening to everyone.”

The summit will run through Wednesday afternoon.
