6/10 Tropical Outlook: Cristina forms in Pacific, Unsettled in Florida Wed-Fri

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UO3puuo5QTk

The third named storm of the season formed Monday night in the Eastern Pacific, while the Atlantic Basin stays quiet. In today's Florida Public Radio Emergency Network tropical weather update, Meteorologist Jeff Huffman is tracking storms of a different kind that could impact the state by mid-week.

Unlike Boris last week, newly formed Tropical Storm Cristina will be moving *away* from Mexico and is no significant threat to land. Across the continent in the Atlantic Basin, all is quiet and no tropical systems are expected to develop in the next five days.

However, an unusually strong upper-level disturbance for this time of year will create unsettled conditions here in Florida Wednesday through Friday, with strong thunderstorms and heavy rain possible in most areas all three afternoons. Seas will become a bit unsettled as well Thursday and Friday as this system departs, especially on the Atlantic side of the peninsula.
