Scott Talks Health Care With Sebelius Monday

Governor Rick Scott will meet with the secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius on Monday. Topics include the federal health care overhaul and Florida's plan to require nearly all its Medicaid recipients to enroll in managed-care plans.

The Legislature approved the Medicaid overhaul in 2011, but it requires approval from the federal government. Scott says he's been waiting for that okay.

"We're working on a Medicaid expansion for managed care in the state, and so we've been working with them and waiting for approval for a little over a year", said Scott.

The Medicaid overhaul has drawn opposition from Democratic lawmakers and patient advocates.

Scott and Sebelius will also discuss the Affordable Care Act - better known as Obamacare. He says he hopes to understand how the health care insurances exchanges required by the law will drive down the cost of health care.
