Bill Would Require Anger Management Course Before Buying Ammo

Senator Audrey Gibson of Jacksonville has filed a bill that would require anyone wanting to buy ammunition to pass an anger management course.

Gibson cited the shooting death of an unarmed Jacksonville teen – Jordan Davis – in a fight over loud music as an example of the need.
She says it's a public safety issue, but is getting some irate reactions.

"My thing is, if you're angry about taking a two-hour anger management class, maybe you might want to take it", said Gibson.

The bill would require those wanting to buy ammunition to take the anger management course online or in person every ten years.

Senate Bill 1678 hasn't yet been referred to committee. The House sponsor is House Democratic Leader Perry Thurston.
