Florida led the nation in new death sentences in 2012. A new report shows the state sent 21 convicts to death row during the last year.
The report from the Death Penalty Information Center says Florida sentenced more convicts to death than any other state. Nationwide, 78 people received the death penalty.Only 9 states actually executed prisoners during the year with 43 people put to death in the US. Three of those executions were in Florida.
