A witness in George Zimmerman's second-degree murder trial testified today the cries for help she heard right before Trayvon Martin's shooting were high-pitched, like a boy's.
Jane Surdyka was a resident of Zimmerman's neighborhood at the time of the shooting. She watched the events unfold through a window.
"I truly believe, especially the second yell for help that was like a yelp. It was excruciating", Surdyka said. "I really felt it was a boy's voice."
Surdyka testified she heard two voices, and the other sounded aggressive and dominant, like a man's. Under cross-examination she admitted she only assumed this second voice was Zimmerman's.
The cries for help are at the center of the case. There's no consensus on who made them.
Prosecutors say Zimmerman profiled, followed and murdered Martin. But Zimmerman says Martin attacked him, forcing him to fire in self-defense.
