Since 2011 The New Beginnings of SWFL has been supporting single mothers in a family-style environment by providing them with a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment at no cost. The idea is to relieve some of the financial burden facing the mothers and gives them a safe place to live.
The Christian-focused nonprofit requires each mother to be enrolled into a local university where they carry a full course load and must maintain a "C" or better average in each class. The mothers are supported by mentors who help guide them through the challenges of establishing a life separate from their past. We're joined by one of the co-founders, the Executive Director, and one of the young mothers to learn more.
