Developing land in Southwest Florida brings up a number of concerns from environmentalists, investors, and everyone in between. Ultimately regional planners and county commissioners make the final call on what is permitted and what’s not.

Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. on Gulf Coast Live, we’ll talk with John Manning, the District 1 representative on the Board of Lee County Commissioners, and Jim Beaver with the Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council, about the slate of projects on the docket for 2017, and the vetting that gets done before a development project is given a green light. We'll also talk about how local leaders balance growth with protecting the land, water, and wildlife of our region.
